Scouring subsea

WebAbstract:Subsea pipelines carry oil or natural gas over long distances of the seabed, but fluid leakage due to a failure of the pipeline can culminate in huge environmental disasters. Scouring process may take place beneath pipelines due to current and/or wave action, causing pipeline suspension and leading to the risk of pipeline failure. WebIf there are subsea pipelines or other structures installed in the same area, the iceberg scouring may present a potential hazard to the integrity of the subsea pipelines or structures. Burry depth (BD) is used to describe how deep a pipeline shall be buried against the iceberg scouring loads.
