Section 25 (1) provides that the Act will come into force on such day as the Secretary of State may appoint. That appointment must be made by regulation. Therefore, those who have entered into a shared ownership lease prior to the new legislation coming into force will continue to have to pay a Ground Rent (if their lease requires) following these 2024 changes to leasehold law.
