WebNov 13, 2024 · Ever since i replaced my old 850 EVO with my new 960 EVO it has been so slow. I have a fresh install of W10 also. I deleted GIMP and reinstalled it but i put the program on my old and slow WD Black HDD and now GIMP runs faster and takes 20-23 seconds to load up and just takes 40 seconds to close after exiting it so it is a lot faster. WebHmm. Defender usually plays nice with GIMP. The other guy's link is worth a look. As it says, the loading fonts thing should only take a long time when you add or remove fonts from your PC. Otherwise it should just show that for a second or two and then move on. For me it's the plugin initialization that usually takes the longest time.
WebEven though I have upped the setting for ram usage in Gimp (12 GB undo & 20 GB tile cache, undo actions reduced to 5), things are very slow after some time. Task manager in Windows shows only 1 cpu core working when things are lagging, and I guess GIMP perhaps only uses 1 cpu core.
